Al Muzayen On Course In Kuwait

Kuwaiti squash star Abdullah Al Muzayen is on course to reach his tenth PSA World Tour final on home soil after beating Ahmad Al-Saraj in the quarter-finals of the Burgan Bank Challenger 10 event at South Surrah Ministries Complex in Kuwait City.

The top seed despatched Jordanian Al-Saraj 11-3, 11-2, 11-5 in just 20 minutes to earn his place in the semi-finals.

Al Muzayen, the 25-year-old Kuwaiti number one who boasts a career-high world No38 ranking, now faces Egyptian Mazen Hesham Ga Sabry.

The No4 seed from Cairo defeated England's Lewis Walters 11-5, 11-7, 11-9.

Unseeded Nasir Iqbal will line up against Malaysia's No2 seed Muhd Asyraf Azan in the other semi.

Pakistani Iqbal battled for 80 minutes to overcome Kuwait qualifier Yousif Nizar Saleh 5-11, 11-6, 11-6, 15-17, 11-9. Saleh, an 18-year-old ranked outside the world top 250, made his breakthrough in the opening round where he ousted third-seeded Welshman Peter Creed.

Azan, the world No59 from Kuala Lumpur, also overcame a Kuwaiti qualifier - beating 25-year-old Fallah Mohammed 11-7, 11-13, 11-8, 11-7 in 70 minutes.
