Butt Battles To Beng Hee Upset In Islamabad

3 Apr 2008

Pakistan teenager Yasir Butt scored a major upset in today's quarter-finals of the COAS International when he defeated Malaysia's top seed Ong Beng Hee in straight games in the $25,000 PSA Tour squash event at the Mushaf Squash Complex in the Pakistan capital Islamabad.

Butt, the No8 seed from Lahore, was in sparkling form as he romped to an 11-7, 11-5, 11-4 win over world No12 Beng Hee, last year's runner-up, in just 32 minutes.

The 19-year-old now faces fellow Pakistani Farhan Mehboob after the sixth seed ended the giant-killing run of Robbie Temple - beating the Englishman who had earlier removed Pakistan number one Mansoor Zaman 11-7, 11-2, 11-10 (2-0).

England's Jonathan Kemp stands in the way of an all-Pakistan semi-final line-up in Islamabad. The No2 seed from Telford took only 17 minutes to conquer former Pakistan No1 Shahid Zaman, the No7 seed, 11-2, 11-7, 11-3 - and will now face Aamir Atlas Khan, the 17-year-old fourth seed from Peshawar who beat India's No5 seed Saurav Ghosal 11-9, 11-3, 11-10 (3-1).
