Romain Romps To Sonderborg Success

23 Apr 2007

Frenchman Romain Tenant scored his second successive PSA Tour title triumph in Scandinavia when he beat Hong Kong's Dick Lau in the final of the Fros Open at Sonderborg Squash Club in Denmark.

The Swedish-based 26-year-old top seed reached the final of the inaugural PSA Tour event in Sonderborg without dropping a game.

By contrast, Dick Lau was taken to four games by local hero Morten W Sorensen before beating the unseeded Dane in a 59-minute semi-final encounter.

The 21-year-old second seed was unable to convert a game-ball in the first game - and thereafter the effects of the earlier lengthy matches took their toll on Lau as Tenant romped to an 11-10 (2-0), 11-1, 11-4 victory in 34 minutes.

"I'm not too unhappy with the way I played - a bit diesel style in the first game, but in the second and the third, more turbo style, and I got through," Tenant told www.sitesquash.com afterwards. "I've won another tournament, and I'm rather happy about it especially as I didn't lose a game in the event."

Tenant's success - the third PSA title of his career - followed his win in last week's Malmo Open in Sweden.
