Wikstrom Waltzes Into Malmo Quarters

Local interest in the Malmo Open was given a lift when Swedish qualifier Andre Wikstrom claimed an unexpected place in the men's quarter-finals of the PSA Tour event at Bellevuestadion in Malmo.

The 26-year-old from Linköping beat England's eighth seed Thomas Javanaud 11-6, 11-1, 11-4 and will now take on Welshman Jethro Binns for a place in the last four.

Unseeded Binns defeated veteran Swede Christian Drakenberg, a former national champion, 7-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-7.

Anna-Carin Forstadius leads Swedish interest in the women's WISPA World Tour event. The fifth seed beat compatriot Anna Detter 9-5, 9-1, 9-7 and will now d battle with Norwegian Lotte Eriksen, the No4 seed.
