Tenant & Mylotte Win Malmo Titles

16 Apr 2007

Ireland's Laura Mylotte and Frenchman Romain Tenant emerged as champions in the first Malmo Open at Bellevuestadion in the Swedish city of Malmo.

Top women's seed Laura Mylotte, in her fourth year on the WISPA World Tour, celebrated her maiden title success when she beat England's No2 seed Kirsty McPhee 10-8, 10-9, 9-6.

Mylotte underwent knee surgery following her appearance in the World Open in Belfast last November - since when the 31-year-old from Galway has broken into the world's top 60, and now looks certain to rise further.

In the men's final, Swedish-based Romain Tenant resisted a strong fight-back from fellow Frenchman Joan Lezaud before beating the PSA Tour final debutant 11-7, 11-8, 5-11, 8-11, 11-2.

The 26-year-old was celebrating his second Tour title success after winning the Centenary Cup in Hong Kong in 2004.
