Stoehr Extends Unbeaten Record In France

25 Feb 2007

France's Isabelle Stoehr notched up her third squash title in as many weeks when she beat Elise Ng in the final of the Women's Des Pyramides Open at Club des Pyramides in Le Port Marly in her home country - thereby extending her unbeaten record in 2007.

At the beginning of the month, the 27-year-old from Chambery clinched her tenth French Nationals title in Le Havre - then began her 2007 WISPA World Tour campaign by picking up the Mayfair Lakeshore Open crown in Canada.

Stoehr, the top seed, reached the Des Pyramides final after beating compatriot Camille Serme in a repeat of the French National final.

Her final opponent, second seed Elise Ng from Hong Kong, dashed hopes of an Irish finalist when she beat fourth seed Laura Mylotte in straight games in the other semi-final.

After the first two evenly-matched games in the final, the favourite exerted her authority on Ng as Stoehr came out a 9-4, 5-9, 9-3, 9-0 winner in 38 minutes to claim her second WISPA title of the year - and the sixth of her career.

Final:
[1] Isabelle Stoehr (FRA) bt [2] Elise Ng (HKG) 9-4, 5-9, 9-3, 9-0 (38m)
