The Women's Des Pyramides Open proved to give inspiration to two Egyptians competing in the new WISPA World Tour event at Club des Pyramides in Le Port Marly, France.

Qualifier Eman El Amir, from Cairo, disappointed home hopes when she upset France's No7 seed Celia Allamargot 9-3, 9-0, 9-3 to claim an unexpected place in the quarter-finals - where she will face the new French Junior Open champion Camille Serme, the third seed who beat Belgian qualifier Annabel Romedenne 10-9, 9-0, 5-9, 9-7 in 50 minutes.

Unseeded Amnah El Trabolsy battled for five games to overcome fifth seed Lucie Fialova, from the Czech Republic, 8-10, 9-0, 6-9, 9-4, 9-1.
