Coll & Orfi Capture US Open Crowns
8 Nov 2026
World No.2 Paul Coll and world No.1 Amina Orfi have captured the titles at the US Open Squash Championships powered by Comcast Business after respective wins over world No.3 Diego Elias and world No.55 Nouran Gohar on a thrilling finals night in Philadelphia.
Coll has won the Platinum-level tournament for the second time and first since 2023 after coming back from a game down to defeat 2022 winner Elias by an 8-11, 11-5, 11-6, 11-8 margin at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center.
The 34-year-old would have surrendered the world No.2 spot to Elias had he lost and it was the Peruvian who started strongly 24 hours after sending world No.1 and defending champion Mostafa Asal out of the tournament.
However, Coll responded brilliantly and showed a number of different layers to his game as he punished his opponent in the front of the court. The victory means that Coll has now won his 35th PSA title, his second of the season, while it's his first major trophy since June's British Open.
"It means a lot, I've been playing really well," said Coll afterwards. "Today was huge for me. I had every excuse in the book to get tired, which I did, but my mind took over and I couldn't be more proud of myself this week. I've got the best team in the world behind me and we put in some work, which paid off.
"I have belief in my mind. When it gets down to it against those top boys, I need to believe that I'm better than them and that my game is good enough to compete. That was a key factor for me today. I know what I can take, I know what I can do in training, so it was all about believing in that today."
Orfi has become the youngest women's US Open champion in history after a sublime performance saw the 19-year-old beat Gohar 11-7, 11-3, 11-6 to go one better than last year's runner-up spot.
Orfi has now won 17 PSA titles and holds the record for being the youngest women's World No.1, World Champion, British Open champion and now US Open champion.
Gohar was appearing in her first major final since giving birth to her daughter just seven months ago and came into the title decider off the back of a 107-minute victory over Hania El Hammamy in the previous round, the longest women's match in US Open history.
That match finished after midnight, but the four-time US Open champion still made it difficult for Orfi particularly in the first game. However, Orfi turned the tables and punished Gohar with her ferocious pace and severe hitting into the front as she pulled away to seal the title.
"It feels good, I'm really enjoying my squash at the moment," said Orfi afterwards. "I feel that's what really matters, if you enjoy it you play well and you win titles. I'm really happy with how I'm performing.
"I still have two tournaments left for the rest of this half of the season, so hopefully I can do well in those. I then have the World Teams and that will be exciting because it's my first time playing at No.1. I'll then relax and get ready for the second half of the season."
The next stop on the PSA Squash Tour will be the China Open Gold-level tournament between November 17-22.
