England & Germany To Contest European Semi-Finals In Brussels
7 Apr 2007
England will be after revenge when they meet title-holders Germany in the semi-finals of the European Junior U19 Team Championships in Brussels, Belgium.
England are favourites to regain the title they lost in last year's final when Germany ended England's 20-year reign as junior champions of Europe.
In the quarter-finals against seventh seeds Wales, Surrey's Joe Lee and Sussex's Tom Pashley had comfortable straight games against Jonathan Davies and Hywel Robinson, respectively - leaving the 'dead' rubber between Victoria Lust and Natalie Pritchard unplayed.
Third seeds Germany recovered from losing the opening match against sixth seeds Czech Republic when Florian Silbernagl and Sina Wall beat Lukas Jelinek and Lucie Fialova, respectively, to ensure a 2/1 victory and a place in the last four.
Second seeds France will face Netherlands, the fourth seeds, in the other semi-final.
