Rodriguez Romps To Buenos Aires Final

27 Nov 2005

Colombian Miguel Angel Rodriguez maintained his giant-killing run in the Tortugas Open in Buenos Aires after upsetting Mexico's top seed Eric Galvez in straight games in the semi-finals of the first PSA Tour event in Argentina for more than four years.

Rodriguez, the 19-year-old sixth seed, made his breakthrough in the quarter-finals when he beat Brazil's third seed Rafael F Alarcon in four games.

The Mexican was unable to keep up with the Colombian's pace in the semi-final, and made too many errors as Rodriguez battled to an 11-9 11-8 11-4 victory in 37 minutes.

In the other semi-final, Spain's second seed Borja Golan swept to an 11-7 11-3 11-1 victory over Australia's fourth seed Bradley Hindle in just 28 minutes.

The in-form 22-year from Santiago in Spain is one match away from his fourth successive PSA Tour title victory since September. Victory in the final would also extend Golan's remarkable current record of ten wins out of ten final appearances.
