Coleman Captures Bexley Open Crown

20 Oct 2014

In an all-English final that brought the inaugural The Park Estates Bexley Open to a climax in the English county of Kent, it was top seed Ben Coleman who prevailed to win the PSA Challenger 5 squash event at Bexley Tennis Squash & Racketball Club in Bexley.

Coleman's final opponent was fellow Essex man Richie Fallows, the reigning European junior champion from Stratford in East London.

Fallows, the 19-year-old second seed, was celebrating his second appearance in a Tour final, while Coleman, 23, was marking his ninth.

"The first game was a nightmare for Richie, making mistake after mistake," explained tournament promoter Ben Ford. "Ben closed out the game at 10-3 with a great backhand cross court nick!

Coleman coasted to the second and was 6-3 up in the third when a blood injury to the favourite caused a delay in the match. It was Fallows that had the upper-hand on the return - taking the game to reduce Coleman's lead.

"In the fourth game Richie is pumped up but Ben nullifies everything he has to offer and closes out the match 11-4 and claims the title 3/1," Ford concluded.

The 11-3, 11-4, 9-11, 11-4 marks the fourth Tour title of Coleman's career - all of which he has won this year!
