Nouran Nets Second Indian Circuit Title

Egypt's Nouran El Torky celebrated her fourth successive appearance in a WSA World Tour final in the best possible way - by picking up her second title in a row at the Women's JSW WSA Indian Circuit No2 in Mumbai.

India's first professional squash circuit is proving to be a happy hunting ground for the 21-year-old from Cairo.

Winner of the first event in Jaipur, world No64 El Torky came into event No2, a WSA Tour 5 championship at Juhu Ville Parle Gymkhana Club, as the fifth seed - but battled her way into the final after upsets over Cheyna Tucker, the third seed from South Africa, then the higher-ranked Laura Pomportes, the top seed from France.

This was El Torky's sixth WSA final - but her opponent Chloe Mesic was celebrating her maiden appearance. The 23-year-old No4 seed from France made her breakthrough in the semis, recovering from 2/1 down to upset second-seeded Austrian Birgit Coufal in five games.

"El Torky made quick work of Mesic and didn't even look to be straining," reported Circuit Director Liesl Goecker. "Though Mesic, playing her first WSA final, did trouble her a bit with drop shots to the corners."

El Torky wrapped up the third title of her career - and established a new 7-match unbeaten Tour run - with an 11-3, 11-5, 11-6 victory in 35 minutes.

"From the beginning I was a little bit worried about the finals because it's the finals," said the jubilant Egyptian later. "Thanks to all the supporters, organizers and the tournament director. Thanks to Matias (Tuomi), Birgit (Coufal), and Valentino (Bon Jovi Bong) for their help from the beginning of the tournament.

"I was moving a lot better than in Jaipur and I was concentrating a bit more than the last tournament. I think Chloe was a little bit tired from yesterday's match."
