Reta Removes Moss To Earn Edmonton Semi

8 Jul 2007

The giant-killing home run of teenager Jackie Moss came to an abrupt end in the Canadian city of Edmonton when the 17-year-old from Calgary went down to compatriot Runa Reta in the quarter-finals of the Women's Royal Glenora Club Open.

Moss, appearing in her maiden WISPA World Tour event, upset eighth seed Milou van der Heijden in the first round.

But Reta, the world No32 from Ottawa, was far too strong for the youngster in the next round, winning 9-6, 9-3, 9-4.

Reta will now face fourth seed Orla Noom - while the other semi-final will feature top-seeded American Latasha Khan and Canada's No3 seed Alana Miller.

Quarter-finals:
[1] Latasha Khan (USA) bt [6] Sarah Parsons (CAN) 9-3, 9-0, 9-1
[3] Alana Miller (CAN) bt [7] Rebecca Hazell (CAN) 9-3, 9-1, 9-1
[4] Orla Noom (NED) bt [5] Milja Dorenbos (NED) 9-2, 9-1, 9-7
[2] Runa Reta (CAN) bt Jackie Moss (CAN) 9-6, 9-3, 9-4
