15 Apr 2007

Alana Miller avenged a WISPA World Tour defeat by fellow Canadian Carolyn Russell on home soil two months ago when she upset the fourth seed in straight games in the quarter-finals of the Women's Toronto Open at Goodlife Fitness Club in Toronto.

Fifth seed Miller, 26, from Winnipeg, beat Russell 9-6, 9-3, 9-6 to earn an unexpected place in the semi-finals - where she will face top seed Samantha Teran. The Mexican dismissed Canada's Neha Kumar 9-0, 9-0, 9-1.

Leading North American interest in the other semi-final will be former US national champion Latasha Khan. The No2 seed from Seattle beat Colombia's Silvia Angulo Rugeles 9-1, 9-1, 9-0.

Khan will face New Zealander Louise Crome, the No3 seed who defeated sixth-seeded Canadian Tara Mullins 9-6, 10-8, 9-5.
