Tara Topples Gemmell In Toronto Open

While three local players have made it through in the top half of the draw of the Women's Toronto Open, sixth seed Tara Mullins is the only Canadian battling in the other half of the field in the WISPA World Tour event at Goodlife Fitness Club in Toronto.

The 30-year-old from Toronto toppled Canadian qualifier Laura Gemmell 9-5, 9-5, 7-9, 9-1 and now meets New Zealander Louise Crome in the quarter-finals. The third-seeded Kiwi beat another local qualifier Samantha Cornett 9-1, 9-2, 9-0.
