Ball Punishes Parke In Vancouver

Bradley Ball upset English compatriot Simon Parke in an 80-minute marathon to secure a surprise semi-final place in the Coastal Contacts Jericho Open in Vancouver, Canada.

Ball, the No8 seed from Ipswich in Suffolk, beat the third-seeded Yorkshireman 11-5, 6-11, 11-4, 8-11, 11-8 and will now face Canada's top seed Graham Ryding for a place in the final of the 2-star PSA Tour event.

Ryding was extended for 88 minutes by fifth-seeded compatriot Shawn Delierre before winning 10-11 (2-4), 11-5, 11-8, 10-11 (0-2), 11-5.

The other semi-final will also be an English/Canadian clash in which second seed Peter Barker will take on Canada's fourth seed Matthew Giuffre.

While the left-hander from Essex swept to an 11-5, 11-4, 11-5 in 32 minutes over Mexican Eric Galvez, Giuffre needed 72 minutes to overcome India's sixth seed Saurav Ghosal 10-11 (0-2), 11-4, 6-11, 11-9, 11-10 (3-1).
