Omar Overcomes O'Brien In Mega Italia Semi

29 Apr 2006

Egypt's Omar Abdel Aziz maintained his 'giant-killing' run in the Mega Italia Open in Italy when he upset New Zealand's fourth seed Callum O'Brien 6-11, 11-5, 2-11, 11-2, 11-7 in 72 minutes in the semi-finals of the PSA Tour event at the Millennium Sport Centre in Brescia.

The 22-year-old from Cairo upset another New Zealander, second seed Kashif Shuja, in the quarter-finals and now celebrates his third PSA final appearance in less than two months.

Aziz meets Italian favourite Davide Bianchetti in the final. The Brescia-based 29-year-old made it through to his fourth Mega Italia final in six years when he brushed aside Kuwait's No3 seed Bader Al Hussaini 11-2, 11-4, 11-5 in 39 minutes.

After defeats in the finals in 2000, 2002 and 2003, Bianchetti will be hoping that it will be fourth time lucky!
