Omar Shakes Shuja In Mega Italia Upset

Surprise winner of two PSA Tour titles last month, Egypt's Omar Abdel Aziz began a determined bid to net a third when he upset New Zealand's second seed Kashif Shuja in the quarter-finals of the Mega Italia Open at the Millennium Sport Centre in Brescia, Italy.

The 22-year-old from Cairo beat Pakistan-born Shuja 10-11 (0-2), 11-9, 11-3, 11-4 in 46 minutes.

Aziz will now face another New Zealander, fourth seed Callum O'Brien who battled for 54 minutes to overcome France's Yann Perrin 11-7, 11-6, 10-11 (0-2), 11-8.

Top seed Davide Bianchetti survived an all-Italian clash with Luca Mastrostefano, beating the fifth seed 11-6, 11-9, 11-3 to set up a semi-final meeting with Kuwaiti Bader Al Hussaini, the third seed.

Bianchetti is seeking his first Mega Italia title in his hometown of Brescia after three-times being beaten in the final.
