9 Sep 2005
Hopes of Ecuadorian interest in the Quito Open were dashed by Argentinean Roberto Pezzota and Hernan Augusto Marino Osorio, of Venezuela, in the qualifying finals of the new PSA Tour event in the country's capital Quito.
Pezzota beat Ecuador's Sebastian Chacon 11-1 11-9 11-10 in 38 minutes, while Osorio battled for five games to overcome Chacon's compatriot Esteban Davalos 8-11 11-8 6-11 11-6 11-6 in 42 minutes.
Top seed in the PSA Super Satellite event is Tommy Berden, from the Netherlands, who is expected to meet Mexico's second seed Eric Galvez in the final.
