9 Oct 2007
Australia's Cameron Pilley successfully defended his title in the Berkshire Open in Williamstown, USA, when he beat France's Renan Lavigne in straight games in the final of the $20,000 PSA Tour squash event in its fourth year at Williams College.
Pilley, the world No21 from New South Wales competing in his third successive final, defeated his opponent ranked seven places higher 11-6, 11-9, 11-7.
"The match was much closer than the score had indicated, as Lavigne was highly competitive throughout the match and could have easily won the second and third games," said event spokesman Zafi Levy.
"Throughout the week, over a thousand spectators watched the men's event, creating a fantastic atmosphere at the Simon Squash Center."
The victory by second seed Pilley takes the UK-based 24-year-old to his 11th PSA Tour title success in his 19th final.
