Tenant & Chinappa Lead Hong Kong Upsets

Unseeded players Romain Tenant and Joshna Chinappa caused significant upsets in the KCC-Perrier Centenary Cup to reach the finals of the new PSA and WISPA event in Kowloon, Hong Kong,
Frenchman Tenant made his breakthrough in the early rounds, beating Japan's fifth seed Takehide Hota, then fourth-seeded Indian Gaurav Nandrajog, to reach the semi-finals where he overcame local favourite Faheem Khan, a qualifier, 4-11 11-8 11-10 11-8 in 36 minutes.
Tenant's opponent in the final will be another local hero Wai Hang Wong, the Hong Kong champion and second seed who twice came from behind to defeat third-seeded Frenchman Alexandre Muller 7-11 11-8 8-11 11-10 11-6 in 47 minutes.
India's Joshna Chinappa claimed the biggest scalp in the women's event when she survived a first game defeat to overcome Tegwen Malik, the No2 seed from Wales, 2-9 9-7 9-0 9-5 in 32 minutes to reach the final from the bottom half of the draw.
Her opponent will be top seed Rebecca Chiu, who needed 49 minutes to quash New Zealand's third seed Tamsyn Leevey 9-2 6-9 9-4 9-4.
