Five Years On, And Amjad Is Back In A PSA Final

15 Nov 2005

More than five years since last reaching the final of a PSA Tour event, Pakistan's Amjad Khan will compete in the climax of the CNS International after beating compatriot Arshad Iqbal Burki 6-11 11-8 11-5 11-5 in the semi-finals of the $25,000 event at the Jahangir Khan Squash Complex in Karachi.

The former Pakistan Open champion is fighting his way back to full fitness after a series of injuries thwarted his international career three years ago. The 25-year-old from Peshawar last appeared in a PSA final in October 2000, when he beat fellow countryman Mansoor Zaman to lift a Pakistan Circuit title, also in Karachi.

Khan, a CNS International qualifier, will face England's Jonathan Kemp after the third seed defeated compatriot Mark Heather 11-4 11-6 11-5 in just 17 minutes.

Khan is celebrating his 12th appearance in a PSA final, while Kemp, 24, from Telford, is through to his fourth final - and looking for his second title of the year.

Semi-finals:
[3] Jonathan Kemp (ENG) bt Mark Heather (ENG) 11-4, 11-6, 11-5 (17m)
[Q] Amjad Khan (PAK) bt Arshad Iqbal Burki (PAK) 6-11, 11-8, 11-5, 11-5 (36m)
