PSL Matches Available Live Around The World Via The Web!

10 Nov 2005

The PSL is partnering with the PSA to bring live web streaming of key Premier League matches via the Professional Squash Association's official web streaming website www.psalive.tv

The first matches to be broadcast on www.psalive.tv will be from the fifth round tie between 2004 champions Manchester Pontefract and 2003 winners Churchill Edgbaston Priory next Tuesday (15 November) at the National Squash Centre in Manchester. Two of the leading teams in the PSL are led by two of the highest-ranked players in the world - England's world No5 Lee Beachill for the home team and Australia's world No6 David Palmer for visitors Edgbaston Priory.

The tie will be a replay of last year's national final - and both teams are expected to field full-strength squads in this exciting clash at the NSC.

Streaming offers the next best thing to being there! Simply register on www.psalive.tv and select from a menu of matches of tournaments and matches from PSA World Tour events, which will now include PSL matches for your enjoyment. You can watch the live action, see slow motion replays, follow the live scoreboard and listen to expert commentary. All of this only costs £1 to watch a match live or if you prefer to watch at a time to suit you, you can watch it as a replay for just 50p.

Adrian Christy, Director of Development & Competitions for England Squash, says: "The PSL season has got off to a tremendously exciting start and this fantastic initiative will enable thousands of squash fans from all over the world to share in the excitement as the best players in the world battle it out on court."

Horizon Software, leaders in the sports IT industry, are providing the technical expertise and on-site team to run the service from the court-side of the all-glass Championship court at the National Squash Centre.

This service has proved to be hugely popular with squash fans around the world since the launch of www.psalive.tv in March of this year - and there are great benefits of www.psalive.tv membership, including an on-line shop selling DVDs of all matches; a live chat room - where you can discuss the matches being streamed live with people from around the world (there's a great sense of community!); downloads of interviews with players; and much more!

Gawain Briars, Chief Executive of the PSA, says: "PSA is delighted that the opportunities of the pioneering new web streaming service, PSALive.tv, have been recognised by England Squash who have taken the positive and welcome step of signing up to the service.

"This will bring unprecedented coverage of the best league stars in the strongest league to the computer screens of fans not only in the UK but to a potential new international market of PSA squash fans around the globe.

"This example of mutual co-operation can only be a win-win for squash, as we strive to promote further the game through all opportunities."

It is expected this pilot will be a popular service for squash fans across England and extended for coverage of other PSL matches during the 05/06 season.
