Duffield & Bristol To Meet in PSL Final In Nottingham

8 May 2007

Derbyshire club Benz Bavarian Duffield will aim to become the first club for ten years to successfully defend their title when they face event newcomers Redwood Probuild Bristol in the Premier League (PSL) final at Nottingham Squash Club on Tuesday 15 May, beginning at 7.00pm.

Both teams expect to be at full strength for the climax of the England Squash league sponsored by Clowes Insurance. Duffield currently hold a remarkable 14-tie unbeaten record in the event, while Bristol become the first team to reach the final in their maiden season in the league.

The anticipated line-up is:

Benz Bavarian Duffield v Redwood Probuild Bristol
Nick Matthew v Adrian Grant
Jonathan Kemp v Joseph Kneipp
Lee Drew v David Evans
Andrew Whipp v Hadrian Stiff
Tania Bailey v Kasey Brown

The top string tussle will see Duffield's Nick Matthew take on England team-mate Adrian Grant - fresh from the pair's success in leading England to glory for the 15th successive year in the European Team Championships in Italy this weekend.

Both players also featured in last year's PSL final - but Grant, together with Bristol team-mate and captain Hadrian Stiff, were then representing runners-up Edgbaston Priory.

The Duffield squad features three players who led the club to success in the 2006 final - Matthew, together with Jonathan Kemp and England international Tania Bailey.

The 2007 final will also have added significance for Nick Matthew - who will be marking his return to the city of Nottingham where last September he became the first Englishman for over 60 years to win the prestigious British Open title.
