Top Seeds In Sekisui Final

26 May 2013

Denmark's Kristian Frost Olesen is one step away from winning the Sekisui Open title in Switzerland for a second time after surviving a five-game semi-final in the PSA World Tour Challenger 10 squash event at Sportpark Pilatus Kriens in Kriens.

The second-seeded defending champion will take on Julian Illingworth, the top seed from the USA.

Olesen had to fight back from 2/1 down to overcome the event's giant-killer Zahed Mohamed. The unseeded Egyptian made his breakthrough in the first round where he ousted fourth-seeded German Jens Schoor - then followed this by dismissing local hero Reiko Peter in the quarter-finals.

"That was close - I was down 1/2 and 4-7 and looking for answers and a way to expose him," said the relived Dane after his 13-11, 9-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-5 victory. "He gave me a small opening and I took it! I fought hard and it paid off. Now time to recover and have some curry wurst!"

Illingworth was also taken to five games by third seed Steven Finitsis - the Australian twice drawing level after leads established by the favourite.

"Happy to get through," said the world No55 from New York after the 11-6, 4-11, 11-2, 7-11, 11-3 win. "Was a good game today, we both play pretty well up and down the left wall so it was quite tactical."

Illingworth is celebrating his second successive final on the PSA Tour - and the 21st of his career - whilst title-holder Olesen is marking his 10th career final.
