Al Muzayen Wins Ghaeme Cup In Iran

20 Jul 2012

Kuwait's leading squash player Abdullah Al Muzayen brushed aside all opposition in the inaugural Ghaeme ale Mohammad Cup in Iran to win the PSA World Tour Challenger 5 event at the Gorgan Squash House in Gorgan in impressive style.

The top-seeded left-hander dropped his first game of the tournament in the semi-finals, but ultimately despatched Jordan's No3 seed Ahmad Al-Saraj 11-2, 8-11, 11-5, 11-0 to make the 15th Tour final of his career.

In the other semi, second seed Ammar Al-Tamimi beat fellow countryman Mohammed Yaquop Hajeyah in four games to set up the all-Kuwaiti final predicted by the seedings.

But Al Muzayen, the 24-year-old world No48, was too strong for Al-Tamimi, beating his 23-year-old compatriot - ranked more than 60 places lower - 11-3, 11-6, 11-3 in just 27 minutes.

The win marks the 12th PSA Tour title of Al Muzayen's, but his third in a row and his fourth of the year.
