Top Seeds To Contest Swiss Open Finals

The top seeds will contest both finals in the Sigma Swiss Open after straight games wins in the semi-finals of the 32nd staging of the event in Geneva.

In the men's event, Canadian favourite Shahier Razik and No2 seed Phillip Barker, from England, reached the final at the expense of two Frenchman. Razik, a 27-year-old from Toronto, defeated fourth seed Laurent Elriani 11-9 11-6 11-1, while Barker, a 23-year-old from Upminster in Essex, brushed aside sixth seed Julien Balbo 11-4 11-3 11-6.

The women's final will be an all-English affair. Top seed Dominique Lloyd-Walter, from Harrow in Middlesex, despatched third-seeded compatriot Sarah Kippax in the semi-finals 9-0 9-1 9-7 - dropping more points in the third game than she had done throughout the rest of the tournament!

In the other semi-final, Essex's No2 seed Lauren Briggs prevailed 9-6 9-8 9-3 in a tough match against fourth seed Jana Smeralova, from the Czech Republic.
