Favourites Lindsay & Corren Capture North Coast Crowns

6 Sep 2010

New Zealander Kylie Lindsay and home hero Mike Corren - both the top seeds - prevailed to win the North Coast Squash Open titles at Coffs Harbour Squash Centre in Coffs Harbour in the Australian state of New South Wales.

Australian Mike Corren survived a four-game semi-final against fourth-seeded Kiwi Alex Grayson to reach the final of the $3,000 PSA World Tour satellite event - the 44th Tour final of his career.

But his opponent Nathan Stevenson, a fellow Australian who was the second seed, also needed four games to claim his place in the final - by contrast the fifth of his career.

The experienced Corren was too strong for 19-year-old Grayson in the final, however. The 36-year-old South Australian battled to a 12-10, 11-4, 11-6 victory in just 28 minutes to claim the 29th Tour title of his career.

In the final of the women's $4,000 WISPA World Tour event, Kylie Lindsay denied the hosts a double - and Australian opponent Melody Francis her maiden Tour title - by beating the 21-year-old second seed 11-8, 11-7, 10-12, 13-11.

The triumph marks Lindsay's second WISPA title of the year - and the third of her career.
