Shoukry & Lindsay Net NSC Series Wins In Malaysia

27 Jun 2010

Egypt's Andrew Wagih Shoukry and New Zealander Kylie Lindsay emerged triumphant in the NSC Series No3 Squash Championships - but the successes produced double disappointment for hosts Malaysia in the latest Tour events at the Bukit Jalil National Squash Centre in the capital Kuala Lumpur.

In the final of the men's $6,000 PSA World Tour championship, top seed Shoukry faced surprise opponent Choong Kam Hing - the fourth-seeded Malaysian who made his breakthrough in the semi-finals where he beat Egypt's Basem Makram.

But the 21-year-old from Ipoh Perak was unable to match his second Egyptian opponent as 19-year-old Shoukry pushed through to win 11-6, 11-6, 13-11.

The success marks the second Tour title of Shoukry's career - but his first since November 2007.

Malaysian Siti Munirah Jusoh was seeded to win the women's $4,000 WISPA World Tour event - and reached her fourth Tour final after a tough five-game battle with Japan's third seed Misaki Kobayashi.

But second seed Kylie Lindsay was after revenge after losing to the 23-year-old from Kuala Terengganu in their last Tour clash.

And 26-year-old Lindsay, from Matemata, recovered from dropping the second game to beat Jusoh 11-9, 9-11, 11-9, 11-7 to record the second Tour title triumph of her career.
