Perrin Powers Through In Argentina

Frenchman Yann Perrin claimed an unexpected place in the last four of the Tortugas Open after upsetting third seed Rafael F Alarcon in the quarter-finals of the $18,750 PSA World Tour squash event at Tortugas Country Club in Tortuguitas, Argentina.

The 24-year-old fourth seed, ranked 29 places below Alarcon, beat the Brazilian 11-7, 11-6, 7-11, 12-10 in 73 minutes - and will now face his third successive South American opponent in the event for a place in the final.

Perrin meets top seed Miguel Angel Rodriguez, the world No32 from Colombia who despatched Englishman Jaymie Haycocks, the No8 seed, 11-3, 11-5, 11-5.

An all-USA battle at the bottom of the draw saw six-time US champion Julian Illingworth prevail 11-6, 11-4, 11-7 over seventh seed Christopher Gordon.

The No2 seed from New York now lines up against fourth seed Eric Galvez following the Mexican's 11-8, 11-4, 11-3 victory over sixth-seeded Colombian Bernardo Samper.
