11 Jul 2009

Japan's unseeded Chinatsu Matsui continued her charge in the Women's Crocodile Challenge Cup when she upset sixth seed Olga Ertlova to reach the semi-finals of the $16,000 WISPA World Tour squash event at the Hong Kong Squash Centre in Hong Kong - becoming the only non-local player to make the last four.

The 31-year-old from Kawasaki - who made her breakthrough in the first round where she ousted local star Christina Mak, the third seed - beat higher-ranked Ertlova, from the Czech Republic, 11-5, 11-6, 11-7.

Matsui will now face rising star Annie Au for a place in the final. Second seed Au defeated fellow Hong Kong player Elise Ng 11-3, 11-4, 11-5.

Top seed Rebecca Chiu and fourth seed Joey Chan will meet in an all-Hong Kong semi after straightforward quarter-final wins. Former Asian Games gold medallist Chiu beat South Korea's Song Sun-Mi 11-7, 11-4, 11-4 - while Chan celebrated an 11-2, 11-6, 11-7 victory over unseeded compatriot Liu Tsz-Ling.

Australian Bradley Hindle stands in the way of an all Hong Kong line-up in the final of the men's $6,000 PSA World Tour Super Satellite event.

The 28-year-old top seed beat Hong Kong's Wai Hang Wong 11-6, 11-7, 11-3 and will now face a second local player Leo Au for a place in the final. Au beat fellow qualifier Ali Farag, of Egypt, 9-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-7.

The other men's semi is the one predicted by the seedings - a domestic clash between second seed Dick Lau and third seed Max Lee.
