Rosner Takes Out Bianchetti In Toulouse

Germany's Simon Rosner earned himself a surprise place in the semi-finals of the Movida International Toulouse Open after twice battling back from behind to upset second seed Davide Bianchetti in the $15,000 PSA Tour squash event in its second year at Movida Castanet in Toulouse, France.

It was one of the best wins of his career - and a repeat of his first ever victory over Bianchetti, the world No29 from Italy, in the Santiago Open in Spain last November.

Rosner, the sixth seed from Paderborn who is ranked 21 places below his European Tour rival, maintained his focus to triumph 9-11, 11-8, 4-11, 11-1, 11-5 in 82 minutes.

The 21-year-old German number one, a former European Junior champion, will now face Chris Ryder after the third seed from England ended an impressive run by Danish qualifier Kristian Frost Olesen. The 21-year-old Dane had reached the last eight after dismissing Ireland's No8 seed Liam Kenny in the previous round in his second match in the tournament in which he had recovered from two games down.

But 28-year-old Ryder was too strong for Olesen, winning 11-6, 11-6, 11-4 in 37 minutes.

There is another surprise name in the semi-final line-up after unseeded Frenchman Mathieu Castagnet beat seventh-seeded compatriot Stephane Galifi, the defending champion, 11-9, 11-9, 11-3. The 52-minute victory was Castagnet's first Tour win over his fellow countryman - and takes the 22-year-old from Le Mans through to a clash with top seed Laurens Jan Anjema.

The Dutch number one also had to overcome a fellow countryman, beating qualifier Piedro Schweertman - who also hails from The Hague - 11-2, 11-4, 11-1 in 40 minutes.
