Bennett Celebrates Scandinavian Success

15 Jun 2009

Dutchman Dylan Bennett triumphed in great style in the Scandinavian Open in Sweden, beating Englishman Laurence Delasaux in straight games in the final of the $4,250 PSA Tour Satellite squash event at Roslagshallen Squash Club in Stockholm.

The 24-year-old from Eindhoven sauntered through to the final without dropping a game - but it was a surprise opponent that the top seed faced in the climax.

Delasaux, playing his first PSA Tour event for more than 18 months and now ranked 371 in the world, burst through the qualifying competition - then dismissed the third seed, the sixth seed, and finally second-seeded fellow countryman Joe Lee in the semi-finals to reach the final.

It was the former European Junior champion's fifth Tour final appearance - but Bennett, marking his ninth PSA final, was too strong for the Yorkshireman, winning 11-8, 11-6, 11-3 in 35 minutes to celebrate the second PSA title triumph of his career.
