Camille Captures Alexandria Crown

12 Jun 2009

Camille Serme claimed the biggest WISPA World Tour squash title of her career when she toppled top seed Omneya Abdel Kawy in straight games in the final of the $25,300 Women's Alexandria Sporting Club Open at Alexandria Sporting Club in Alexandria, Egypt.

Abdel Kawy, the world No7 from Cairo, was expected to be the first local player since 2005 to lift the Alexandria tropy.

But eighth seed Serme, the 20-year-old three-time European Junior Champion from France had other ideas and pulled off her third upset in three days to beat the favourite 11-7, 11-9, 11-4.

The title triumph marks the fifth Tour title of Serme's career - and the third this year!

Final:
[8] Camille Serme (FRA) bt [1] Omneya Abdel Kawy (EGY) 11-7, 11-9, 11-4
