Grinham Celebrates Half Century In Sharm El Sheikh Showdown

12 Dec 2008

The top two seeds Rachael Grinham and Jenny Duncalf will line up for the final of the Women's Sharm El Sheikh Open after prevailing in the semi-finals of the $26,200 WISPA World Tour Silver squash event in South Sinai, Egypt.

Favourite Grinham denied domestic interest in the climax after beating Egyptian number one Omneya Abdel Kawy. The world number three from Queensland clinched the first game which went to extra points - then went on to win the next two to claim a 13-11, 11-6, 11-9 win over the third seed in 35 minutes.

It took just a minute longer for England number one Duncalf to beat fourth seed Shelley Kitchen - recovering from a game down to defeat the New Zealander 3-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-9.

While Duncalf is marking the eighth WISPA World Tour final of her career, former world number one Grinham is celebrating her 50th appearance - since making her maiden showing more than ten years ago, in March 1998 in France.
