Lloyd-Walter Wins Maiden Ohio Title

17 Nov 2008

A packed gallery at the Dayton Squash Center saw England's Dominique Lloyd-Walter do justice to her No1 seeding in the 2008 Women's Ohio Open - a new event on the WISPA World Tour squash calendar - by defeating Canada's Alana Miller in straight games in 49 minutes.

Lloyd-Walter, who dropped only one game during the tournament, got off to a fast start - winning the first game in the climax of the $16,000 Tour event in Dayton, USA.

Miller changed her style and came out swinging with power in the second game, winning the first two points with kill shots finding the nick and floor. In the standout game of the tournament, Lloyd-Walter powered back with four straight points before points were traded evenly with both players claiming game-balls before the English favourite eventually prevailed.

Miller, the sixth seed from Winnipeg, again led at the beginning of the third game before Lloyd-Walter reeled off five points in a row to take the lead which she never relinquished.

However, Miller saved two match-balls before the 27-year-old from Harrow ultimately claimed her 11-4, 15-13, 11-9 victory.

The triumph extends Lloyd-Walter's 100% record in WISPA Tour finals to five wins out of five!

Final:
[1] Dominique Lloyd-Walter (ENG) bt [6] Alana Miller (CAN) 11-4, 15-13, 11-9 (49m)
