Grant & Ball Guarantee English Finalist In Vancouver

19 Jan 2008

Adrian Grant and Bradley Ball battled through the quarter-finals of the Comfort Inn Open to ensure English presence in the final of the 3-star PSA Tour event at Evergreen Squash Club in Vancouver, Canada

Second seed Grant had to fight back from a game down against Egyptian Tarek Momen before beating the unseeded 19-year-old 9-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-5 in 51 minutes.

The Londoner will now face fourth-seeded compatriot Bradley Ball in the semi-finals. The 31-year-old from Ipswich enjoyed the most straightforward quarter-final win of the day, beating unseeded Hungarian Mark Krajcsak 11-9, 11-6, 11-6.

Top-seeded Australian Stewart Boswell also dropped a game before securing his anticipated place in the last four. The UK-based 29-year-old disappointed the local crowd by beating popular Canadian opponent Shawn Delierre, the No8 seed from Montreal, 11-4, 11-9, 5-11, 11-3 in 72 minutes.

It took a minute longer for Canada's sole survivor Shahier Razik to stake his claim on a semi-final place - recovering from a game down to beat US champion Julian Illingworth 10-11 (0-2), 11-5, 11-3, 11-7 to set up a clash with Boswell.
