Khan Captures Iran Open Crown

8 Nov 2007

Appearing in her first WISPA World Tour final for more than two years, Pakistan's Carla Khan earned the perfect reward when she upset top seed Donna Urquhart to lift the Women's Iran Open title in the north western Iranian city of Rasht.

Seeded four, Khan beat second-seeded Indian Dipika Pallikal to earn a place in the final of the new WISPA Premiere Series event in Iran.

The UK-based 26-year-old, returning to WISPA World Tour action after a back injury, battled for 63 minutes to beat Australian Urquhart 9-4, 9-1, 5-9, 9-7.

The triumph marks Khan's fourth WISPA title, but the first since September 2005.
