Carla Khan Earns Place In Iran Open Final

Pakistan's Carla Khan, the No4 seed, upset second-seeded Indian Dipika Pallikal to earn a place in the final of the Women's Iran Open in the north western Iranian city of Rasht.

The new WISPA Premiere Series squash event in Iran attracted local players as well those from all over the globe, with the top four seeds - from Australia, Netherlands, Pakistan and India - making it through to the semi-finals.

Khan, returning to WISPA World Tour action after a back injury, despatched unseeded Scot Lisa Aitken in the quarter-finals before taking out higher-ranked Dipika Pallikal 9-4, 9-4, 4-9, 9-1 in the semis in 32 minutes. The UK-based 26-year-old is marking her sixth Tour final appearance - but the first for more than two years.

Khan will face Australian Donna Urquhart after the top seed defeated Australian-born Dutch player Karen Kronemeyer, the third seed, 9-2, 6-9, 9-4, 10-8. Urquhart, 20, from Queensland, is celebrating her maiden appearance in a WISPA final.
