White & Ashour In Second Dayton Open Final

For the second year in a row, Scotland's John White and Egyptian Ramy Ashour will meet in the men's final of the EBS Dayton Open after contrasting semi-final victories in the PSA Tour event in Ohio, USA.

Fourth seed White overcame Ong Beng Hee, the unseeded Malaysian who achieved one of the best results of his career when he beat top seed Thierry Lincou, the former world No1 from France, in the quarter-finals.

After a prolonged tie-break in the second game, the US-based defending champion eventually prevailed 11-9, 11-10 (7-5), 9-11, 11-6.

White's final opponent Ramy Ashour, the teenage sensation from Cairo who is now ranked six in the world, despatched third-seeded compatriot Karim Darwish 11-8, 11-8, 11-7.

There was Egyptian success in the final of the women's event when top seed Omneya Abdel Kawy battled to a 9-5, 9-5, 3-9, 9-5 victory over New Zealand's Jaclyn Hawkes. Fifth seed Hawkes claimed one of the best results of her career in the semi-finals when she beat fellow Kiwi Shelley Kitchen, the No2 seed.

The Dayton success brings Kawy's WISPA World Tour title haul to four.
