Glory For Grinham In Greenwich

15 Jan 2007

Natalie Grinham extended her unbeaten record on the WISPA World Tour to 12 matches when she beat USA's fifth seed Natalie Grainger in the final of the Harrow Women's Greenwich Open at the Field Club in Greenwich, USA.

Grinham, the 28-year-old second seed from Queensland, defeated Grainger 9-7, 9-5, 9-7 to repeat her win over the 29-year-old from Washington DC in the semi-finals of the World Open in Belfast in November.

In the final, Grinham lost narrowly to world number one Nicol David - but went on to win the Monte Carlo Classic in Monaco in December, then the Marsh Apawamis Open in Rye, USA, earlier this month.

The Netherlands-based world No4 - who won a record three Commonwealth Games gold medals on home soil last year - has now notched up the tenth WISPA World Tour title of her career.

Final:
[2] Natalie Grinham (AUS) bt [5] Natalie Grainger (USA) 9-7, 9-5, 9-7
