Mansoor Moves Into CAS Semis

4 Nov 2006

Second seed Mansoor Zaman moved comfortably into the semi-finals of the CAS International after defeating fellow Pakistani Aamir Atlas Khan in today's quarter-finals of the $25,000 PSA Tour event in Islamabad, Pakistan.

It was the left-hander from Peshawar's second PSA win on 'home soil' in two months over 16-year-old Khan, also from Peshawar.

The 11-5, 11-7, 5-11, 11-10 (4-2) victory takes Zaman, runner-up twelve months ago, on to a clash with Englishman Joey Barrington - a re-enactment of battles their famous fathers Jonah Barrington and Qamar Zaman had three decades ago.

Barrington junior, the No4 seed, beat Pakistan-born New Zealander Kashif Shuja 11-8, 8-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-8 in 60 minutes.

There will be local interest in the other semi-final after Shamsul Islam Khan overcame fellow Pakistani qualifier Farhan Mehboob 11-9, 5-11, 10-11 (6-8), 11-7, 11-3.

Khan will now face Borja Golan, the top seed from Spain who beat Egypt's No7 seed Omar Mosaad 11-4, 11-9, 11-10 (3-1).
