Mylotte Upsets Egyptian Party In Alexandria

Ireland's Laura Mylotte beat Alia Balbaa in straight games in today's qualifying finals of the Women's Alexandria Sporting Club Open to deny a clean sweep of Egyptian qualifiers through to this Tour 10 WISPA World Tour event in its second year in Alexandria, Egypt.

The 31-year-old former Irish junior champion, based in Stockport in England, will face England's No8 seed Kirsty McPhee in the first round.

Alexandria teenager Heba Alaa El Torky will make her long-awaited debut in the main draw of a WISPA World Tour event after fighting back from 2/1 down to beat compatriot Nour Bahgat 9-3, 7-9, 7-9, 9-1, 9-2 in the qualifying finals.

The 15-year-old will become the youngest player by far in the draw when she faces fellow teenager Raneem El Weleily, the 17-year-old No3 seed - also from Alexandria - in the first round.
