Orla Cruises To Carcassone Crown

24 May 2006

Orla Noom dropped just two points as she cruised to victory in the final of the Women's Carcassonne City Open to become the first Dutch winner of the WISPA World Tour title in Carcassonne, France.

In a surprise all-Netherlands final, the 20-year-old fourth seed from Hoofddorp beat Margriet Huisman, the 22-year-old No7 seed from Arnhem, 9-1, 9-1, 9-0 in 25 minutes.

"A very impressive performance by Orla who didn't put a hand wrong," said tournament organiser John Catlow.

The triumph marks Dutch international Orla Noom's maiden WISPA World Tour title success after finishing as runner-up in her first final at the Swiss Open in March.
