Cousins Collapse In COAS Semis

10 Mar 2006

Hopes of domestic interest in the final of the COAS International in Pakistan were dashed today at the Roshan Khan Squash Centre in Islamabad where cousins Shahid Zaman and Mansoor Zaman failed to overcome their Egyptian opponents in the semi-finals.

Top seed and defending champion Shahid Zaman, who leads his country's medal bid in next week's Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, went down 10-11, 11-2, 11-8, 11-8 in 29 minutes as young Egyptian Ramy Ashour claimed his fourth appearance in a PSA Tour final.

The 18-year-old world junior champion from Cairo will face second-seeded compatriot Mohammed Abbas who also took four games to beat Mansoor Zaman, the third seed, 11-9, 6-11, 11-8, 11-6. The 25-year-old from Cairo is celebrating his sixth PSA final appearance.
