Adnan Celebrates Home Victory In KL

20 Dec 2014

Nafiizwan Adnan maintained home ownership of the Royal Lake Club Open title in Kuala Lumpur when he beat Egypt's Zahed Mohamed in the final of the PSA Challenger 15 squash event in its third year at The Royal Lake Club in the Malaysian capital.

The climax was a battle between the event's top two seeds - Malaysian favourite Adnan celebrating his second Tour final of the month after beating fellow countryman Muhd Asyraf Azan in the semis and Alexandria-based Mohamed seeing off surprise opponent Farhan Zaman, the No.5 seed from Pakistan, in the other semi.

The final went the full distance - the 22-year-old Egyptian fighting back from two games down to force a decider before Adnan regained control to close out the match 11-8, 11-4, 10-12, 9-11, 11-3 in 85 minutes.

"I'm very, very, happy to win this tournament this year because this is my first PSA title for this year since April 2013," said Kuala Lumpur-based Adnan.

"I hope this win will make me feel more confident to win more titles next year," added the 28-year-old Malaysian number two after notching up the eighth Tour title of his career.
