Boswell Makes It A Double In Invercargill
25 Apr 2005
Australia's former world number four Stewart Boswell has lifted the PSA Tour's Southland Classic trophy in Invercargill, New Zealand, just a week after sweeping to victory at the South Island Championships in Christchurch.
The 26-year-old from Canberra is enjoying a highly successful comeback after almost two years away from the Tour recovering from a mystery back ailment.
And for the second week in a row, it was the New Zealand number one Kashif Shuja that Boswell beat in the climax. Once again the unseeded Australian cruised through the entire tournament without dropping a game, before beating top-seeded Shuja 11-0 11-4 11-6 in the decider.
There was also an Australian success in the women's event when top seed Dianne Desira made up for a disappointing quarter-final exit in Christchurch, with victory in the WISPA World Tour event final against Malaysia's Tricia Chuah.
The 23-year-old from Melbourne took an hour to overcome the sixth seed, but finally prevailed 0-9 10-8 1-9 9-4 9-7.
