Shabana Shakes Seedings In Vancouver

Shabana Khan came from a game behind to beat US compatriot Louisa Hall in the quarter-finals of the Women's Vancouver International in Canada - creating an upset according to the seedings, but a confirmation of her higher position in the latest WISPA World rankings.

Khan, the fifth seed who is currently ranked 59 in the world, despatched third seed Hall, ranked five places lower, 1-9 9-3 9-2 9-3.

The Seattle-based 36-year-old now takes on Mexico's top seed Samantha Teran, a 10-8 9-6 3-9 9-7 victor over Canada's Carolyn Russell.

Single-handedly carrying local interest through to the semi-finals is Vancouver-based No2 seed Melanie Jans Burke, who beat fellow Canadian Lauren Wagner 9-2 10-8 9-2. Jans Burke faces Guyana's sixth seed Nicolette Fernandes for a place in the final.
