Swedish Open Confirmed for 2010
20 Mar 2009
ActiPro Event, the event company run by former Swedish squash international Fredrik Johnson, has confirmed the staging of the 2010 Case Swedish Open.
The PSA Tour squash event will take place for the seventh year on an all-glass court erected in the arena of Linköping Sporthall in Linköping.
"Again it will be one of the biggest PSA tournaments in Europe," said Johnson. "The Case Swedish Open is registered as a 5-star event, featuring a prize-fund of 60,000 US Dollars, with the winner also receiving a watch worth around 5,000 US Dollars."
Following qualification from 2-3 February 2010, the dates of the main draw are 4-7 February.
As in previous years, there will also be a women's WISPA World Tour tournament, hosted by the Swedish SRA.
A number of local tournaments, featuring around 20 categories including juniors and Masters, will also be staged over the weekend of the 5-7th February, with some of the finals being played on the four-glass-walled court.
ActiPro Event received a boost in Sweden this week when the Case Swedish Open 2008 was nominated for a "Best Event in 2008" award in the local region of Sweden.
