Siddall Swoops Into Creteil Final

24 Feb 2008

England's Lauren Siddall claimed an unexpected place in the final of the Women's Internationaux de Creteil after upsetting second seed Tricia Chuah in straight games in the semi-finals of the $12,550 WISPA World Tour squash event at Centre Marie Therese Eyquem in Creteil, France.

The third seed from Pontefract in Yorkshire reached the semis after despatching compatriot Emma Chorley, a qualifier, 9-3, 9-3, 9-2. After surviving a close first game against Chuah, 23-year-old Siddall went on to beat the world No29 from Malaysia 10-9, 9-3, 9-1 in 34 minutes to earn her second appearance in a Tour final.

Siddall's opponent will be the new Dutch national champion Annelize Naude, the top seed who survived a stern test from compatriot Karen Kronemeyer in the quater-finals.

In more dominant form in the semi-finals, the 31-year-old from Amsterdam defeated France's European junior champion Camille Serme, the fourth seed, 9-4, 9-2, 9-1 to mark up her 12th appearance in a WISPA final.
